“…more than anything, this was Teleri-Siân’s performance. She is a player of great sensitivity, showing the ability to shape musical lines instinctively, generally taking to the idiom as to the manner born.”
King Edward Musical Society, March 2007
Gershwin Rhapsody In Blue

Teleri-Siân’s reputation as an instinctive and sensitive solo pianist, with an enthusiasm to communicate, has taken her to countless venues throughout Great Britain, and to France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Hong Kong and America. A graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester she performs frequently as both recital pianist and concerto soloist.

Her expanding repertoire includes concertos by Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Gershwin, Shostakovitch, Ravel, Grieg, Litolff and Beethoven. She performed her first concerto when she was sixteen, playing Shostakovitch’s Second Piano Concerto with the orchestra of the Junior Department at the Royal Northern College of Music.

Audiences always respond enthusiastically to Teleri-Siân’s personal and friendly manner. She has an inherent passion for making all kinds of music accessible to her audience; her eagerness to explain her interpretation and understanding of the repertoire is natural and spontaneous and this soon became a central part of her performances.

Teleri-Siân’s father gave her her first piano lesson when she was just three years old and he continues to guide her today. She gave her first solo performance a year later at the age of four. She grew up immersed in Welsh culture where Eisteddfodau and music making are a part of everyday life. In her teens she won the piano solo competition at the Urdd Eisteddfod two consecutive years and she twice won both the piano solo and the Instrumental Blue Riband at the prestigious Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales.

Teleri-Siân is first and foremost a solo pianist, but during her seven years as a pupil at Ysgol Brynhyfryd, Rhuthun, she accompanied the school choir, always welcoming the chance to sing when the opportunity arose. She also played both flute and piccolo in the school band, the orchestra of the Junior Department at the Royal Northern College of Music and her local Youth Orchestra, with whom she has since performed as a concerto soloist.

Teleri-Siân joined the Junior Department at the Royal Northern College of Music at the age of fourteen, and continued her studies there as a full time student, graduating in 2000. Whilst at college she was awarded the Marjorie Clementi Memorial Prize and was kept very busy fulfilling external engagements. She was appointed International Artistic Ambassador of People To People International, and in this role she met Archbishop Desmond Tutu and performed for Mary Eisenhower, for which occasion a piece of music was commissioned for her to play.

Teleri-Siân is also a linguist. She speaks Welsh, English, French and Italian fluently, as well as a little Spanish and German and graduated with a Masters Degree in Modern Languages from the University of Manchester.

She now works full time as a musician; she is Assistant Head of Practice at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, she teaches piano at the Junior Department of the Royal Northern College of Music and is a piano tutor at Canolfan Gerdd William Mathias in Caernarfon, where she teaches through the medium of Welsh. This year she will be adjudicating the piano competitions at the National Urdd Eisteddfod in Colwyn Bay. All of this she fits successfully around her performing schedule.

Teleri-Siân is a solo pianist whose technique and natural ability to communicate make her performances exciting and personal.
